I've been reading the OpenTag wiki to learn the various parts of OpenTag. It appears that OpenTag has a lot of flexibility in how it works throughout the layers. How would someone without deep knowledge of the 18000-7 M2 spec know if they are still 'within spec' if they were to alter the functionality of some part to their liking or custom implementation?

Don't change the code in otlib, otplatform, or otradio unless you want to take risks. :) There is an enormous amount of configurability in the file registry, which controls the way the MAC works. If you are just working with the file registry (usually in data_default.c file), then you will stay within spec. Of course, there are still some optional features in the specs that I have not implemented, and for those you would need to write some code.

Have a custom HW with STM32F and CC1120. Looking into using OpenTag on our platform. Is there somekind of 'high level' documentation explaining exactly what is DASH7 (in regards of ISO18000-7), what is mode 1, mode 2 and later where to start for those who want to go at trying to port it to non supported paltforms ?

Best Regards,
